Stainless Steel Fabrication Services | MorFabrication Newcastle

MorFabrication provides specialist stainless steel fabrication services from our facility in Newcastle upon Tyne. We work across grades 304 and 316 stainless steel, manufacturing bespoke components, structures, and complete systems for clients in the food and beverage, pharmaceutical, chemical processing, and commercial sectors. From precision sheet metal work through to heavy structural fabrication, our team delivers stainless steel products to exacting standards with full traceability and quality documentation.

Our Stainless Steel Fabrication Capabilities

Our Newcastle workshop is equipped to handle the full range of stainless steel fabrication processes. We work with stainless steel sheet, plate, tube, box section, and flat bar in thicknesses from 0.5mm up to 25mm, giving us the flexibility to manufacture everything from lightweight enclosures and covers through to heavy-duty structural frameworks and process equipment.

Our core stainless steel fabrication services include:

CNC Profiling & Laser Cutting

Precision CNC profiling of stainless steel sheet and plate to tight tolerances. Our cutting capabilities allow us to produce complex profiles, apertures, and mounting patterns with clean edges that minimise secondary finishing operations. This is particularly important for stainless steel work where surface finish quality is critical.

TIG & MIG Welding

Our coded welders are experienced in both TIG and MIG welding of stainless steel across all common grades. TIG welding is our standard process for thin-gauge and visible work where weld appearance and penetration control are paramount — typical for food-grade fabrications, handrails, and architectural metalwork. MIG welding is used for heavier structural work where deposition rate and strength are the priority.

Forming, Bending & Rolling

We offer press brake bending, section rolling, and plate rolling for stainless steel, producing curved and formed components to specified radii. Our experience with stainless steel’s springback characteristics means we consistently achieve the correct finished dimensions first time, reducing waste and lead time.

Surface Finishing

Stainless steel finishing options include brushed (scotch-brite), mirror polish, bead blasting, passivation, and powder coating. The appropriate finish depends on the application — food and pharmaceutical environments typically require a specific surface roughness (Ra value) to meet hygiene standards, while architectural work demands a consistent visual finish.

Stainless Steel Grades We Work With

Selecting the right stainless steel grade is critical for performance and longevity. We primarily work with two grades that cover the vast majority of commercial and industrial requirements:

Grade 304 Stainless Steel — The most widely used austenitic stainless steel. Grade 304 offers excellent corrosion resistance, good formability, and is suitable for the majority of indoor and light-duty outdoor applications. It is the standard choice for food processing equipment, kitchen fabrications, general architectural metalwork, and commercial fixtures.

Grade 316 Stainless Steel — Contains molybdenum, which provides significantly improved resistance to chloride corrosion and pitting. Grade 316 is essential for marine environments, chemical processing, pharmaceutical manufacturing, and any application where the steel will be exposed to aggressive chemicals or salt-laden atmospheres. It costs more than 304 but is the only suitable choice for demanding environments.

We also work with duplex stainless steels and other specialist grades when project specifications require them. Our team can advise on the most appropriate grade for your application, balancing performance requirements against budget considerations.

Industries We Serve

Food & Beverage Manufacturing

Stainless steel is the material of choice for food and beverage production environments. We manufacture bespoke conveyor systems, processing tanks, hoppers, chutes, guards, splash-backs, preparation surfaces, and complete production line components. All food-grade fabrications are finished to the required hygiene standard with fully sealed welds and appropriate surface finishes.

Pharmaceutical & Chemical Processing

For pharmaceutical and chemical processing clients, we fabricate stainless steel vessels, pipe supports, access platforms, safety guards, and bespoke equipment frames. Grade 316 stainless steel is typically specified for these environments, and our fabrication processes ensure full material traceability from stock certificate through to finished product.

Commercial & Architectural

Stainless steel features prominently in commercial interiors, retail environments, and architectural projects. We manufacture balustrades, handrails, reception desks, counter tops, decorative screens, canopy structures, and bespoke fixtures. Our recent work at Everton Stadium included stainless steel servery counters and commercial bar fittings across multiple hospitality venues.

Industrial & General Engineering

For industrial clients, we fabricate stainless steel access steps, walkways, safety guarding, machine frames, conveyor structures, and maintenance platforms. These items often need to combine corrosion resistance with structural strength, particularly in wash-down environments or outdoor installations.

Stainless Steel Conveyor Systems

MorFabrication has developed particular expertise in manufacturing bespoke stainless steel conveyor systems for food and beverage production facilities. We design and fabricate complete conveyor frames, support structures, and ancillary components including modular belt conveyors, slat and tabletop chain conveyors, wire mesh conveyors, and heavy-duty industrial conveyor systems.

Every conveyor system is manufactured to the specific requirements of the production environment, taking into account product type, throughput speed, wash-down requirements, integration with existing production lines, and access for maintenance. We work directly with production managers and engineers to ensure each system delivers the required performance from day one.

Quality & Standards

MorFabrication operates to ISO 9001 quality management standards and holds EN 1090 certification for structural steelwork. Our stainless steel fabrication processes follow documented procedures with full material traceability, weld inspection records, and dimensional checking at each stage of production.

For projects requiring coded welding, our welders hold current certifications to the relevant standards. We can provide full weld documentation packages including WPS (Welding Procedure Specifications), WPQR (Welding Procedure Qualification Records), and welder qualification certificates as required by your project specification.

Why Choose MorFabrication for Stainless Steel Work?

Unlike many general fabrication companies, we have invested specifically in the skills, equipment, and processes needed to produce high-quality stainless steel fabrications. Stainless steel demands different handling, welding techniques, and finishing approaches compared to mild steel — cross-contamination between materials can cause corrosion, poor welding technique leaves visible defects, and inadequate finishing compromises both appearance and hygiene performance.

Our combination of stainless steel fabrication expertise with in-house powder coating and finishing means we can deliver complete, ready-to-install products without relying on third-party finishing subcontractors. This gives us full control over quality and lead times — particularly important for time-sensitive production line installations where downtime costs money.

Based in Newcastle upon Tyne, we serve clients across the North East and throughout the UK. Whether you need a single bespoke stainless steel component or a complete fabrication package, contact our team to discuss your requirements.
