MorFabrication Launches In-House Powder Coating Service
MorFabrication Launches In-House Powder Coating Service
9th April 2026 · MorFab
We’re pleased to announce that MorFabrication has invested in a brand-new, purpose-built powder coating facility at our Newcastle workshop. This is a significant step for us and for our customers — bringing professional powder coating in-house means we can now offer a true end-to-end fabrication and finishing service without relying on third-party coaters.
Why We Made the Investment
For years, we’ve been outsourcing our powder coating to external suppliers. It worked, but it added time, cost, and an element of unpredictability to every project. Lead times depended on someone else’s schedule. Quality control was one step removed. And when something needed re-coating, the whole process started again.
We decided it was time to bring that capability in-house — not just for our own work, but to offer it as a standalone service to other fabricators and businesses across the North East.

The Equipment
We haven’t cut corners on this. The facility has been designed to handle serious workloads and deliver a professional finish:
Curing Oven — Our gas-fired oven measures 3 metres high, 3.5 metres wide, and 8 metres long. That’s enough room for large structural sections, multiple gates or railings batches, architectural metalwork, and industrial components. It’s one of the larger ovens in the Newcastle area, which means we can take on work that other local coaters might struggle with.
Water Wash Spray Booth — At 5 metres wide, our spray booth gives us the room to coat large and awkward assemblies properly. The water wash extraction system keeps the environment clean and ensures an even, contamination-free finish. No dust nibs, no imperfections — just a clean, consistent coat.
Gema OptiFlex Pro B — We’ve chosen the Gema OptiFlex Pro B as our application system. Gema are the industry standard in professional powder coating, and the OptiFlex Pro B features their PowerBoost technology at 110kV for maximum powder charging efficiency, Precise Charge Control for difficult finishes like metallics, and Digital Valve Control for consistent film thickness across every job. It also allows for fast colour changes, which means less downtime between jobs and quicker turnaround for customers.
What This Means for Our Customers
For fabrication customers, the benefit is simple: everything under one roof. We can now take a project from raw steel through to a fully coated, ready-to-install finished product without it ever leaving our workshop. That means shorter lead times, tighter quality control, and one point of contact from start to finish.
For trade customers and other fabricators, we’re offering powder coating as a standalone service. If you’re a fabricator, welder, or manufacturer in the North East and you need reliable, high-quality coating with fast turnaround, we’d like to hear from you.
What We Can Coat
With our oven size and spray booth capacity, we can handle a wide range of items including:
If it fits in the oven, we can coat it. And with our oven dimensions, that covers a lot of ground.
